Social Housing Litigation Solicitor (1–4 PQE) Location: Newcastle / Hybrid

Due to continued growth, a well-established national firm is seeking a Solicitor with 1–4 years’ PQE to join their expanding social housing litigation team in Newcastle, supporting the defence of housing disrepair claims.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful and growing practice, working within a dedicated housing disrepair team focused on the management and defence of housing condition claims.
You will work with some of the firm’s key clients, including major Housing Associations and Local Authorities, supporting them in responding to housing disrepair matters. The role suits someone confident working to challenging timescales, with strong organisational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and excellent communication.
What Will I Be Doing?
- Managing a caseload of defended housing disrepair claims (primarily issued claims, with some pre-litigation work as needed)
- Contributing to periodic reporting to clients, in line with client requirements
- Assisting in supervising junior paralegals handling pre-action disrepair claims
- Supporting the department’s broader business development objectives, strengthening and expanding key client relationships
You'll Have:
- Familiarity with the Civil Procedure Rules and experience of volume litigation (specific disrepair experience preferred but not essential)
- Commercial awareness of factors relevant to volume defendant litigation
- Strong case management skills
- Advocacy and negotiation experience
- Excellent time and diary management, including accurate time recording
- Strong legal research abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with sound judgement
- An efficient, methodical, and organised approach to workload
- Flexibility to adapt your style and approach where required
- Strong prioritisation skills and the ability to move matters forward with urgency
- The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
