Legal Cashier
Leeds | Full-Time
Salary | Competitive
We are seeking an experienced Legal Cashier to join our growing Finance team in Leeds. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a busy and collaborative law firm, supporting client transactions across both UK and international offices. You will play a key role in ensuring financial processes are completed accurately, on time, and in full compliance with regulatory requirements.
Based in our Leeds office, the Cashiers team is responsible for managing client-related financial transactions for the firm’s UK and overseas offices. You will work closely with colleagues across the business, including fee earners, PAs and Group Finance teams, and will be part of an established, supportive team that values development and progression. There will also be opportunities to contribute to system improvements and finance projects.
In this role, you will be responsible for processing a wide range of payments and receipts, including CHAPS, BACS, Faster Payments and foreign currency transactions. You will handle both client and office account payments, manage receipts, support international and multi-currency transactions, and process payments to foreign and expert suppliers. You will also be involved in placing client funds on and off deposit, calculating interest on client balances, and carrying out regular client balance reviews.
You will act as a key point of contact for matter-related financial queries from across the firm and will ensure strict adherence to the SRA Accounts Rules, VAT requirements and any relevant international regulations. Supporting audits, assisting with finance projects, and testing new systems or process changes will also form part of your responsibilities.
To be successful in this role, you will have at least two years’ experience as a Legal Cashier within a law firm environment and a strong working knowledge of the SRA Accounts Rules. You will be highly organised, detail-focused, and comfortable managing high volumes of work in a fast-paced setting. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will liaise with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally. You should also be confident using IT systems such as Excel, Outlook and electronic banking platforms.
Experience with 3E and knowledge of French, Arabic or German would be advantageous, but are not essential.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a firm that offers a supportive and inclusive working environment, exposure to high-quality work, and genuine opportunities for professional development. If you are looking to take the next step in your legal finance career in Leeds, we would welcome your application.
