Description

Head of Residential Conveyancing | High Net Worth Property | Department Growth
Yorkshire | Hybrid Working | Senior Solicitor / Licensed Conveyancer | £60,000–£85,000 DOE + Leadership Opportunity

Enjoy residential conveyancing, but feel you've outgrown simply managing a caseload?

Perhaps you're already supervising colleagues without the title to match. Maybe you're leading from the front but have little influence over how the department is run. Or perhaps you're ready to shape the future of a team rather than simply being part of one.

If that resonates, this could be the next step.

QED Legal's client is seeking an experienced Head of Residential Conveyancing to lead an established and growing Residential Property department. This is a genuine leadership opportunity for an ambitious solicitor or conveyancer who enjoys developing people as much as delivering excellent client service.

You'll retain a manageable personal caseload while taking responsibility for the strategic direction, performance and continued growth of the department. The role combines technical expertise, leadership and commercial input, giving you the opportunity to influence everything from service delivery and operational improvements to recruitment, business development and long-term planning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and developing an established Residential Conveyancing team, including solicitors, licensed conveyancers, paralegals and support staff.
  • Managing a personal caseload of Residential Conveyancing matters, including freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity and new build transactions.
  • Supervising complex files and providing technical support across the department.
  • Mentoring junior lawyers, conducting appraisals and supporting professional development.
  • Monitoring workflow, client service standards and departmental performance.
  • Driving operational improvements, efficiency and the effective use of case management technology.
  • Working closely with senior leadership on departmental strategy, recruitment and future growth.
  • Building relationships with estate agents, developers, introducers and other professional contacts to support business development.
  • Maintaining the highest standards of compliance, risk management and client care across the department.

To be considered, you'll ideally have:

  • Qualified Solicitor, Licensed Conveyancer or Chartered Legal Executive with substantial Residential Conveyancing experience.
  • Previous experience supervising or managing a conveyancing team.
  • Strong technical knowledge across Residential Property, Conveyancing, Property Law and the residential transaction process.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Commercial awareness with an understanding of departmental performance and profitability.
  • A proactive approach to developing people, improving processes and delivering exceptional client service.
  • The confidence to build relationships internally and externally while contributing to the firm's continued growth.

This opportunity would particularly suit a Head of Conveyancing, Residential Property Solicitor, Residential Conveyancing Manager, Senior Conveyancing Solicitor or Licensed Conveyancer looking to step into a broader leadership role with genuine influence over the direction of a successful department.

You'll be joining a firm that continues to invest in its people, embraces modern ways of working and recognises that successful departments are built around strong leadership, collaboration and outstanding client service. There is genuine scope to shape the future of the team while benefiting from the support of an ambitious and forward-thinking leadership group.

Salary: £60,000–£85,000 DOE, together with hybrid working, a comprehensive benefits package and a genuine opportunity to influence the future direction of a growing Residential Property department.
