Description

Employment Lawyer (Advocacy Focus) – Nottingham – £50,000 to £110,000

The firm
This nationally recognised law firm has a strong presence in Nottingham, operating from modern city-centre offices while working as part of a wider UK network. Known for advising some of the country’s largest and most respected employers, the firm combines high-quality legal work with a genuinely supportive culture. Its Employment, Pensions and Immigration team is highly ranked in the Legal Directories and continues to grow, driven by long-standing client relationships and a reputation for pragmatic, commercial advice. With hybrid working, investment in technology and a clear commitment to career development, this is a firm where people are encouraged to thrive.

The role

  • Acting as an Employment Advocate with a primary focus on Employment Tribunal hearings, from case management preliminaries through to multi-day full merits hearings (both in person and via video)
  • Representing clients in complex matters including discrimination, whistleblowing, detriment, unfair dismissal and wages claims
  • Managing contentious preliminary hearings such as jurisdiction, disability status and applications
  • Providing employment law advice on issues including grievances, disciplinaries, equal pay and dismissals
  • Drafting tribunal responses, bundles, witness statements, reports and related documentation
  • Supporting and supervising junior members of the team where appropriate
  • Contributing to legal updates, articles and thought leadership
  • Getting involved in business development, training and networking initiatives
  • Working closely with Partners to help drive the practice forward — could this be the advocacy-focused role where you finally get exposure to genuinely high-quality tribunal work?
  • Operating in line with client and internal service levels while meeting financial and chargeable targets

Travel across the UK will be required for hearings, although this is kept to a minimum wherever possible through remote working and flexible arrangements.
