Description

If you want to build your career under the guidance of one of the most pre-eminent Employment Partners in Scotland, this is a rare opportunity to do exactly that.

A leading Scottish heavyweight law firm is seeking an Associate (2–5 PQE) to join its highly regarded Employment team. You’ll work directly with a standout Partner at the top of their field – widely recognised for technical excellence across both contentious and non-contentious employment law, and equally respected for their influence, integrity and commitment to developing exceptional lawyers.

This is not a role where you’ll be on the sidelines. You will gain hands-on exposure to high-quality work from day one, working closely with a Partner who is deeply embedded in the Scottish market and actively invests time in mentoring and progression. It’s an environment designed to accelerate development and lay the foundations for future senior progression.

The practice covers the full spectrum of employment law, advising both claimants and respondents. The work is varied and engaging: tribunal litigation, discrimination and whistleblowing claims, collective issues, TUPE, restructuring projects, restrictive covenants and strategic advisory work for senior executives and employers. You’ll support on complex matters, take increasing responsibility for your own caseload and begin building strong client relationships.

You’ll also be encouraged to get involved in business development and profile-raising activities early in your career, with clear support to help you grow your network and develop your own specialism over time.

The firm is looking for an employment lawyer with 2–5 years’ PQE, solid experience across contentious and non-contentious matters, and strong technical, advocacy and interpersonal skills. A collaborative mindset and genuine ambition to progress are key.

In return, you’ll join a firm that truly values its Employment practice, offering a competitive package, flexible working and – most importantly – direct mentorship from one of Scotland’s leading Employment Partners.
