The firm
This award-winning national law firm continues to experience impressive growth while maintaining a supportive, people-first culture. With a network of offices across the UK and a reputation for combining commercial excellence with genuine collaboration, the firm is widely recognised as one of the country’s most forward-thinking legal practices. Its Construction & Engineering team is at the forefront of the industry — advising on complex infrastructure, commercial, and residential projects for many of the best-known names in the sector. Led by highly ranked lawyers in both Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500, the team is trusted for its pragmatic, commercially focused advice and its ability to deliver creative, real-world solutions for clients. The Nottingham office remains a key centre of excellence, offering access to top-quality work in an open, inclusive environment that values initiative and professional development.

The role

  • Join a national Construction & Engineering team that advises on all aspects of the construction process, focusing on non-contentious work.
  • Work on drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of documents, including JCT, NEC and MF/1 contracts, consultant appointments, warranties, bonds, guarantees, development and funding agreements, agreements for lease, novation agreements and other project documentation.
  • Collaborate with a team of over 25 specialists who advise on both the front-end and dispute aspects of projects, ensuring clients receive rounded, practical support.
  • Be part of a team in growth mode, with the flexibility to tailor responsibilities to your experience level — from Associate through to Managing Associate.
  • Contribute to major national projects, working with well-known names in the construction and engineering industry.

You

  • Qualified solicitor with around 2–10 years’ PQE, ideally with experience gained at a recognised construction practice.
  • Strong background in non-contentious construction work, or a mix of advisory and contentious matters with an interest in specialising on the front end.
  • Excellent understanding of the construction industry, commercial drivers, and project risk management.
  • Confident in managing workload, time recording, billing and achieving financial targets.
  • A self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, professional approach.
  • Technically proficient with case-management systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Someone who thrives in a culture that values initiative, integrity, and client-focused advice.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary from £50,000 – £120,000 depending on experience.
  • Hybrid working and flexible arrangements that promote work-life balance.
  • Life assurance, private healthcare and generous pension contributions.
  • Regular social events and a friendly, inclusive culture.
  • Opportunities for professional development and genuine career progression.
  • Work with respected leaders in construction law and gain exposure to high-value national projects.
