Description

Children Law Solicitor | Care Proceedings | Career progression
Sunderland | 6+ PQE
£50,000 - £60,000

Experienced in care proceedings? Ready to take on greater responsibility, build your profile and help shape a growing team?

QED Legal's client is looking to recruit an experienced Children Law Solicitor to join its team in Sunderland. You'll need at least 6 years' PQE, substantial public children law experience and current Children Panel accreditation.

The role centres on complex and sensitive work where your technical ability, judgement and client care really matter. You'll manage a caseload covering care proceedings, child protection, emergency applications, placement and adoption matters, special guardianship and related children law work.

You'll represent children, parents and family members, working closely with children's guardians, counsel, local authorities and other professionals to progress matters effectively and provide clear advice throughout proceedings.

There's scope to make this more than a fee-earning role. The firm is keen to support the right solicitor's development, with opportunities to supervise and mentor junior colleagues, strengthen relationships with referrers and contribute to the department's growth. For someone looking to progress towards an Associate-level position and take on greater responsibility, this is an opportunity worth exploring.

You'll need strong knowledge of legal aid, court processes and safeguarding, alongside the confidence to manage complex matters independently. An established caseload and referrer relationships would be particularly valuable.

The firm offers a structured approach to career development, ongoing training and a supportive working environment, alongside a competitive salary based on experience. Benefits include pension, 27 days' annual leave plus Christmas Eve, life insurance (subject to eligibility) and employee support services.

Sunderland | 6+ PQE | Children Panel accreditation essential | Salary dependent on experience
