Employment Lawyer (Advocacy Focus) – Nottingham – £50,000 to £110,000

The role
- Acting as an Employment Advocate with a primary focus on Employment Tribunal hearings, from case management preliminaries through to multi-day full merits hearings (both in person and via video)
- Representing clients in complex matters including discrimination, whistleblowing, detriment, unfair dismissal and wages claims
- Managing contentious preliminary hearings such as jurisdiction, disability status and applications
- Providing employment law advice on issues including grievances, disciplinaries, equal pay and dismissals
- Drafting tribunal responses, bundles, witness statements, reports and related documentation
- Supporting and supervising junior members of the team where appropriate
- Contributing to legal updates, articles and thought leadership
- Getting involved in business development, training and networking initiatives
- Working closely with Partners to help drive the practice forward — could this be the advocacy-focused role where you finally get exposure to genuinely high-quality tribunal work?
- Operating in line with client and internal service levels while meeting financial and chargeable targets
Travel across the UK will be required for hearings, although this is kept to a minimum wherever possible through remote working and flexible arrangements.
You
- Around 4+ years’ PQE (or equivalent relevant experience)
- Employment Tribunal advocacy experience, ideally including multi-day hearings
- Strong technical employment law knowledge
- Excellent communication, organisation and time-management skills
- Ability to manage a varied caseload and work to deadlines
- A collaborative, flexible and proactive approach
- High attention to detail
- Previous mentoring or supervision experience is desirable but not essential
