Description
Unique International Private Client Role | Hybrid (Bath) | No BD Required | Route to Partnership
If you're a Private Client Solicitor (2 – 8PQE) eager to develop genuine expertise in complex, high-value international private client work (within a collaborative, purpose-led firm), this is a rare opportunity to join one of the UK’s few specialist cross-border private client teams.
This Tier 1 (Legal 500) Southwest firm, led by internationally recognised expert, advises on complex succession, inheritance, tax, and estate planning issues across 80+ jurisdictions. The team has grown steadily, now generating over £1.2 million in annual revenue within a £30m turnover firm, and plays a key role in the firm’s wider social impact and growth strategy under a new CEO.
This expanding team operates separately from the core trusts and estates department, focusing exclusively on technically challenging, non-contentious international matters. You’ll be part of a close-knit group, including a Partner, a Senior Associate, and 2 junior lawyers, supported by a pool of support staff, allowing you to concentrate fully on legal work.
You’ll advise a high-calibre international client base including HNW individuals and families, UK and overseas charities, foreign law firms, and executors and trustees dealing with complex cross-border estate elements.
The role is ideal for someone with strong trusts and estates experience and a passion or interest in technical, specialist international law. Prior cross-border experience is beneficial but not essential, as full training will be provided on conflict of laws, jurisdiction, international estate planning, and related topics.
You will work in a supportive environment with structured mentoring, including daily catchups, in-depth internal training, and collaborative case handling. Career development pathways are clearly defined, with promotion routes from Solicitor to Salaried or Equity Partner. There is clear scope for a leadership role, due to the current structure of the team.
This is a hybrid role (2 days per week in Bath), with flexible working arrangements available depending on experience and level. The firm supports a healthy work-life balance, and offers a generous benefits package including private medical insurance, 28 days’ holiday plus bank holidays and a CSR day, life assurance (4x salary), enhanced pension, cycle to work scheme, and profit share. The salary range is £52k - £68.
Chargeable hours sit at 5.5 per day with a 1,400-hour annual target and a 75% realisation rate, adjusted for charity-sector clients. There is a four-month grace period before targets apply. Bonuses include both individual and firm-wide payments, with last year’s firm-wide bonus circa £2,000 per person.
This is a unique chance to join a specialist international private client team within a forward-thinking firm that values expertise, collaboration, and social impact. If you are looking to specialise in private international law without the pressure of business development targets, this opportunity is for you.
