Description
Commercial Property Associate/Senior Associate | Gloucestershire | Shaping a Team, Leading Quality Work
If you're a commercial property solicitor with at least 6 years' PQE and a small following (or the foundations of one), this is an opportunity to join a firm where you can grow without compromise. A high quality, well-established Cheltenham-based firm, offers something increasingly rare in legal practice: autonomy, progression, and a genuinely collaborative working culture.
You’ll be joining a close-knit and well-respected commercial property team made up of three directors, a solicitor, and a paralegal. It’s a small team with a big impact - giving you the chance to work closely with experienced practitioners while also shaping the direction of the department as it grows. The structure means you'll never feel like a cog in a wheel. Instead, you’ll have direct client contact, influence over how things are done, and a real say in the team's future.
The work is broad and engaging, covering the full spectrum of commercial property matters including freehold and leasehold acquisitions and disposals, leases, development projects, refinancing, and landlord and tenant issues. Clients span a wide range of sectors, and you'll be encouraged to develop long-term relationships built on trust and commercial awareness.
This is a firm that takes culture seriously. Social events (think after-work drinks, pizza lunches, parties, and book club meetups) are a regular feature. But more importantly, there's a genuine emphasis on wellbeing and work/life balance. You'll benefit from a chargeable hours target that reflects quality over quantity and a leadership team that actually lives the values they promote.
The wider firm has around 65 staff and is recognised for its steady, sustainable growth. The firm operates with the infrastructure and resources you'd expect of a respected regional practice, underpinned by a client-focused, service-led ethos. The commercial property department is a key contributor, and there’s room here for someone to help it reach its next stage.
To thrive in this role, you'll be commercially minded and confident managing your own caseload with minimal supervision. You’ll be proactive in building relationships and keen to contribute to the development of the team. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, along with solid IT capability and familiarity with case management systems.
In return, you’ll receive a competitive salary reflective of your experience. Benefits include private medical insurance, income protection, pension contributions, 25 days' leave plus bank holidays, an extra day off for your birthday, and access to mental health and wellbeing support through the firm’s employee assistance programme.
