Paralegal – Litigation  Newcastle | Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm
£30,000 – £35,000 DOE

A well-established and growing litigation team is seeking a Paralegal with proven case handling experience. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their litigation expertise with clear future prospects of qualification/progression.

The Role Reporting directly to the Litigation Manager, you will play a key role in progressing cases from instruction through to resolution. This is a hands-on position suited to someone confident managing files, preparing documentation and liaising with insurers and defendant representatives, while working closely with senior team members on complex and technical matters.

Key Responsibilities Case Handling & Litigation Support

  • Managing and progressing cases with appropriate supervision
  • Drafting, reviewing and preparing legal documentation including correspondence, particulars of claim, schedules and evidence bundles
  • Gathering, analysing and organising evidence from clients, third parties, witnesses and internal systems
  • Ensuring all files are accurately maintained and progressed in line with internal standards, SLAs and the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR)

Legal & Technical Work

  • Supporting the Litigation Manager in preparing cases for negotiation, settlement and litigation
  • Assisting with drafting witness statements, instructions to experts, court documents and proceedings

Client & Stakeholder Communication

  • Acting as a professional point of contact for clients, insurers, solicitors, experts and internal colleagues
  • Providing regular case updates and responding to routine queries
  • Supporting expectation management and adherence to key deadlines

Operational & Administrative Support

  • Maintaining accurate records on case management systems
  • Tracking deadlines, court dates and key milestones
  • Contributing to improvements in processes, templates and documentation

About You

  • Essential: prior case handling experience within a legal or claims environment
  • Experience in a paralegal, litigation support or claims handling role
  • Working knowledge of litigation processes, evidence handling and CPR
  • Strong IT skills and experience using case management systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented and able to manage competing priorities
  • A proactive team player with a strong client-service focus
  • Ambitious and motivated, with a clear interest in career progression and qualification
