We’re working with a growing, well-respected ABS conveyancing firm that is looking to appoint an experienced Head of Legal Practice to take on the key COLP & COFA responsibilities and provide senior leadership across the business.

This is a key hire for the firm and would suit someone operating at Head of Firm / Managing Director / Senior Compliance Partner level who wants a genuinely influential role within a progressive and commercially minded practice.

The Role?

As Head of Legal Practice, you will hold overall responsibility for the firm’s regulatory compliance, financial governance, and operational oversight. Working closely with the Board to ensure the firm continues to operate to the highest professional and regulatory standards while supporting ongoing growth.

  • Acting as COLP, ensuring compliance with SRA Standards and Regulations
  • Acting as COFA, overseeing compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules
  • Maintaining robust systems and controls across legal, financial, and operational functions
  • Identifying, managing, and reporting regulatory or financial breaches where required
  • Providing strategic leadership and senior decision-making support to the Board
  • Overseeing risk management, governance frameworks, and compliance policies
  • Acting as the primary point of contact with the SRA and external advisors
  • Supporting business growth, change initiatives, and operational improvements

About you?

Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales
Ideally you have had previous experience as COLP and/or COFA
Proven experience in a senior leadership role in an SRA regulated firm
Bonus - Experience in a conveyancing firm
 Commercially minded, pragmatic, and confident operating at board level
Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence culture and standards across the firm
