Description

An opportunity for an Employment Solicitor to join a highly regarded national team in Cambridge, advising a varied employer client base across the health, higher education and government sectors.

This role would suit a solicitor with a strong interest in employment law who is looking to build their experience within a collaborative team, working on a mix of contentious and non-contentious matters with support from experienced senior lawyers.

The Role You’ll advise employer clients on a range of employment law issues, taking responsibility for day-to-day advisory work and Employment Tribunal matters with appropriate supervision. The work will focus primarily on clients in the health, higher education and government sectors, although there will be opportunities to work across other sectors and collaborate with colleagues in different offices.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Advising employers on contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
  • Managing Employment Tribunal claims and providing day-to-day employment law advice.
  • Drafting clear, accurate legal documentation and undertaking relevant legal research.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, colleagues and professional contacts.
  • Supporting client training initiatives and contributing to business development and marketing activities.
  • Working collaboratively with senior lawyers and colleagues across the wider national team.

You’ll benefit from regular training, professional support and opportunities to develop your technical expertise and client-facing skills.

About You You’ll be a qualified Solicitor with around 1–5 years’ employment law experience, gained in private practice or in-house. You’ll have a clear enthusiasm for employment law, strong drafting skills and the confidence to manage matters independently within an appropriate supervisory structure.

The successful candidate will also demonstrate excellent organisation, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, alongside a proactive approach to building client relationships and developing business.

Experience advising large employers would be advantageous.

What’s on Offer

  • The opportunity to work with established employer clients across several key sectors.
  • Support and mentoring from experienced employment lawyers.
  • Regular cross-office training and professional development.
  • Exposure to a broad range of employment law matters.
  • A collaborative working environment with opportunities to develop your client training and business development skills.
