Description
Legal Counsel – Litigation | 1–6 PQE | Staffordshire | Hybrid Working
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Litigation Solicitor / Legal Counsel (1–6 PQE) to join a busy and supportive in-house legal team based in Staffordshire.
This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor or barrister with a background in civil litigation, commercial litigation or broader dispute resolution who is looking to move in-house and develop their career within a large and commercially focused organisation.
You will have responsibility for a varied caseload of contentious matters, working closely with colleagues across the business and external legal advisers. The role offers genuine ownership of litigation matters, exposure to a broad range of disputes and the opportunity to develop your understanding of the legal and commercial issues affecting a large organisation.
The Role
As a Legal Counsel – Litigation, you will:
- Manage and advise on a varied range of litigation and dispute matters
- Handle matters through to settlement, resolution or court proceedings, where appropriate
- Deal with a mixture of civil, commercial and other contentious matters
- Review and assess claims, advising internal stakeholders on potential risks and outcomes
- Liaise with internal teams, customers, third parties and external legal advisers
- Manage relationships with external counsel and third-party providers
- Assist with the management, reporting and progression of litigation matters
- Provide practical and commercially aware legal advice to colleagues across the business
The role is deliberately broad, and candidates with experience across civil litigation, commercial disputes or other contentious areas are encouraged to apply.
About You
You will ideally be:
- A qualified solicitor or barrister
- 1–6 years' PQE
- Experienced in litigation and/or dispute resolution
- From a civil litigation, commercial litigation or broader contentious legal background
- Comfortable managing your own caseload and progressing matters effectively
- Experienced in dealing with court proceedings, ideally including County Court and/or High Court litigation
- Commercially minded, with an interest in understanding the wider impact of legal issues on a business
- A clear and concise communicator with strong problem-solving skills
- Proactive, organised and able to manage multiple priorities
You do not need to have worked in-house previously. This could suit someone currently working in private practice who is looking to make their first move into an in-house legal team.
What’s On Offer
- Hybrid working – 3 days per week office-based
- A genuine opportunity to move in-house and develop your commercial legal experience
- A varied contentious caseload rather than a narrowly defined litigation role
- Early responsibility and the opportunity to take ownership of your own matters
- Exposure to a range of legal and commercial issues within a large organisation
- The opportunity to work closely with senior legal and business stakeholders
- A busy and supportive legal team with scope for professional development
Why Apply?
This is a great opportunity for a 1–6 PQE litigator looking to take the next step in their career and gain valuable in-house experience.
Whether your background is in civil litigation, commercial disputes or another area of contentious legal work, this role offers the opportunity to broaden your experience, take ownership of a varied caseload and develop a much stronger understanding of the legal and commercial issues affecting a large organisation.
