Description
Commercial Property Solicitor | Plymouth (Hybrid) | Developer & Investor-Focused Work | Regional Culture
I'd like to connect with commercial property solicitors interested in joining a Legal 500, well-respected firm in Plymouth, offering meaningful work, a clear sense of progression, and the kind of team that genuinely supports each other.
You’d be joining a thriving property department in Plymouth that’s grown steadily in both headcount and revenue over the past few years. The team currently contributes a significant chunk to firm turnover, supporting developers, investors, lenders, and business owners across the South West and beyond. Fee income has seen consistent year-on-year growth (even against tough market conditions) thanks to the strength of relationships and a genuine focus on service, not volume.
The structure is close and supportive: led by a highly respected partner with over seven years at the firm, and made up of lawyers at varying levels of seniority. The work is broad and interesting, from buying and selling commercial premises to complex development projects, lease negotiations, secured lending, and portfolio management. You’ll be trusted to run your own caseload from instruction to completion, with input or backup when needed.
Clients include local developers, national occupiers, private lenders, and established investors across retail, industrial and office sectors. It’s varied, engaging work. You’ll also be encouraged to build your own profile in a way that feels natural to you, whether that’s networking, speaking at events, or something in the background.
The firm doesn’t focus on PQE, but you’ll likely have around 2–4 years’ PQE, handling commercial property transactions.
The culture is what stands out: no late-night expectations, no egos, just people who want to do great work and still have lives outside of it. You’ll benefit from a genuinely healthy work-life balance and a modern, flexible approach to how and where you work. The firm offers hybrid working and is open to conversations around remote arrangements too.
Benefits are strong and reflect the firm’s commitment to its people: competitive salaries, bonus schemes, enhanced maternity/paternity, a health cashback plan, and five weeks’ holiday (plus bank holidays). There’s also an active social calendar, wellbeing resources, and the rare perk of working in one of the most beautiful parts of the country; combining career growth with coastal living.
If you want a role where you can do excellent work, grow at your own pace, and be treated like a human being (not just a billing machine), this is worth a closer look.
