Clinical Negligence Solicitor (0–5 PQE) Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: Competitive

PQE Level: NQ – 5 years 

A leading international law firm is currently seeking a Newly Qualified to Associate-level Solicitor to join its well-regarded Healthcare team based in Newcastle. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with a genuine interest in clinical negligence to join a top-tier defendant practice recognised by both Chambers and The Legal 500 for its excellence in this specialist field.

The Role The successful candidate will be involved in a broad range of private insured clinical negligence claims, working closely with senior lawyers and partners on high-value, complex matters. This will include:

  • Advising on and managing a varied caseload of clinical negligence matters
  • Working with healthcare insurers and understanding their protocols and processes
  • Advising on coverage and indemnity issues
  • Attending client meetings, conferences, and business development events
  • Supporting senior team members with large-scale cases and trials

About the Team The healthcare division provides comprehensive legal support to a wide client base including NHS Trusts, NHS Resolution, private hospitals, medical malpractice insurers, clinics, and individual practitioners. The team is particularly known for its ability to handle high-stakes and sensitive cases, including complex litigation, inquests, and judicial reviews.

With a strong national presence and global reach, the team works collaboratively across offices to deliver a consistent and high-quality service to healthcare clients. They are also recognised for their expertise in medical insurance, healthcare regulation, and risk management.

Candidate Requirements:

  • UK-qualified solicitor or CILEX qualified (0–5 years PQE – guideline only)
  • Experience in medical malpractice or clinical negligence work (claimant or defendant)
  • Strong knowledge of insurer protocol and policy considerations
  • Excellent communication and client care skills
  • Confidence in managing your own caseload (with appropriate supervision)
  • A collaborative mindset and genuine enthusiasm for healthcare law
