Description
Not every employment lawyer wants to spend their career doing one side of the job.
Some love tribunals.
Some prefer the advisory work.
The best roles tend to let you do both.
I’m looking to speak with Employment Solicitors in Newcastle from around 2 years PQE upwards who want a genuinely mixed employment practice.
There is active recruitment in the market for lawyers who can handle contentious and non-contentious work for significant employers.
That means Employment Tribunal claims.
TUPE.
Redundancies and restructures.
Employee relations.
Contracts, policies and procedures.
And supporting wider corporate and real estate projects when employment issues become part of the deal.
For me, that mix is the attraction.
You are not becoming the person who does nothing but defend tribunal claims.
Equally, you are not spending your entire week answering routine HR queries.
You get to develop both sides of your practice.
And by 2+ PQE, that matters.
You should be starting to build proper judgement.
Understanding when a client needs the legally perfect answer and when they need the commercially sensible one.
Knowing which disputes are worth fighting.
Knowing when something that looks relatively minor could turn into a much bigger problem if it is handled badly.
I’m particularly interested in lawyers who already have experience dealing with Employment Tribunal litigation and larger-scale workforce issues.
Perhaps you are in a smaller employment team and want greater exposure to national clients.
Perhaps you are already in a substantial practice but want a broader mix of work.
Or perhaps you simply want to know whether the Newcastle market can offer something better than your current setup.
There are some genuinely strong employment teams in the city, and you do not need to move south to work with sophisticated employers or handle complex matters.
If you are an Employment Solicitor around 2+ PQE and would like a confidential conversation about the Newcastle market, contact Neil Campbell at QED Legal.
I’ll give you a straightforward view of the opportunities, where your experience could fit and whether anything is genuinely worth exploring.
