Description

Family Solicitor / Associate, 1–5 PQE, Worcester, Tier 1 Family Team

Are you a Family Solicitor looking for high-quality private family work and the opportunity to work directly alongside experienced, highly regarded Partners?

This is an excellent opportunity for a Solicitor around 1–5 years' PQE to join one of the strongest Family teams in the region, handling a genuine mix of private children, divorce and financial remedy work while receiving significant Partner contact and support.

The Firm

A highly regarded regional law firm with an established presence across Worcestershire and the wider West Midlands.

The firm's Family department is ranked Tier 1 by the Legal 500 and is also recognised by Chambers & Partners, with a number of individual lawyers receiving recognition for their expertise.

Despite that quality of work and external recognition, this isn't an environment where a junior or mid-level Associate disappears into a large team. You'll work closely with senior lawyers and Partners, giving you significant exposure to experienced practitioners while developing your own practice.

The Role

Based in Worcester, you will join an established Private Family team and work directly alongside a highly regarded Family Partner.

You'll develop a broad caseload covering:

  • Divorce and separation
  • Financial remedy proceedings
  • Private Children Act matters
  • Complex financial arrangements following relationship breakdown
  • Cohabitation and related family matters
  • Advising clients from initial instruction through negotiation and proceedings where necessary

The work offers a good balance between children and matrimonial finance, making this particularly attractive for someone who wants to remain a rounded Private Family Solicitor rather than becoming pigeonholed too early in their career.

A major attraction is the level of Partner contact. You'll have the opportunity to work closely with senior lawyers on more complex matters while gradually taking greater ownership of your own cases and client relationships.

You

You will ideally be a Family Solicitor with around 1–5 years' PQE and experience across private family law.

You don't need to arrive as a finished Family lawyer. The opportunity to continue learning from experienced Partners is an important part of the role.

You should have experience or a genuine interest in developing across:

  • Private Children Act matters
  • Divorce and separation
  • Financial remedy work
  • Client management and advocacy

You'll need to be personable and empathetic with clients while remaining commercially minded and pragmatic in your advice.

This could particularly suit someone at a smaller practice who wants exposure to more complex work and recognised Family lawyers, or somebody at a larger firm who would value considerably more direct Partner contact.

Why Consider It?

The real USP here is development.

You'll be joining a Tier 1 Family department, working directly with experienced and recognised Partners and gaining exposure to sophisticated Private Family work without being expected to already know everything at 1–5 years' PQE.

For somebody ambitious about becoming an excellent all-round Family lawyer, that combination of quality of work and direct senior contact is difficult to replicate.

Would you like to develop your Family career somewhere you'll work directly with recognised Partners rather than several layers below them?
