Legal Administrator – Land & Rural Business Location: Edinburgh

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an organised and proactive Legal Administrator to join the Land & Rural Business team of a well-established Scottish law firm in Edinburgh.
This is a varied legal administration role supporting solicitors who advise clients across rural property transactions, agricultural land, estate management, leases, crofting, renewable energy and environmental matters.
Working as part of a professional and collaborative business support team, you will provide comprehensive administrative assistance, ensuring client matters progress efficiently and the department continues to deliver an excellent standard of service.
The Role As Legal Administrator, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting new client onboarding, including engagement documentation, terms of business and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) checks.
- Providing administrative and financial support across a range of rural property and land transactions.
- Preparing reports, maintaining client records and updating the firm's case management system.
- Requesting property searches and preparing registration documentation and Land and Buildings Transaction Tax (LBTT) returns.
- Producing and formatting professional correspondence, legal documents, reports and forms, including digital dictation where required.
- Managing diaries, coordinating travel arrangements and maintaining accurate electronic and physical files.
- Liaising with solicitors, colleagues, clients and third parties to ensure the smooth progression of matters.
- Supporting improvements to departmental processes and administrative procedures.
About You We are looking for an experienced administrator with excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail and a professional approach to client service.
Ideally, you will have previous experience in legal administration, legal secretarial support or a similar role within a professional services environment.
You will also demonstrate:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities, with the confidence to prioritise competing deadlines.
- A high level of accuracy when preparing and reviewing documents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Outlook and document formatting.
- Experience using case management systems or similar administrative software.
- A proactive, flexible approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a busy team.
Previous experience in rural property, commercial property, residential conveyancing or agricultural law would be advantageous, although candidates with transferable administrative experience from other legal departments or professional services will also be considered.
