This role sits in the Leeds corporate team of an independent full-service firm. Leeds is one office in a national corporate practice, so you'll work on deals that bring in colleagues from across the firm.

The main reason to look at this one is deal volume. The team is consistently among the most active M&A advisers in Yorkshire by number of completed deals. At 3-8 PQE that means a steady flow of live matters you run yourself, rather than one large deal you watch from the data room.

The core work is mid-market M&A: acquisitions, disposals, investments and restructurings for owner-managed businesses, management teams and corporate buyers. Clients include manufacturing, technology and professional services businesses. Banking and finance, corporate tax and share incentive specialists all sit within the corporate group, so you see the whole deal and not only your part of it.

The firm is investing in the team and has made several senior hires in the past year. In a growing team, associates have room to build their own client relationships and to make a case for promotion earlier than they could where the structure is already fixed.

The Leeds partners are experienced transactional lawyers and the service is partner-led, so you work directly with the people who own the client relationships.
