Senior Business Development Manager – Probate

We're looking for a commercially focused Senior Business Development Manager to play a pivotal role in expanding our professional referral network, developing strategic partnerships and driving sustainable business growth across our probate and estate administration services.

About the Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, you'll lead business development activity across the probate market, working with professional advisers and institutional partners to generate high-quality referrals and expand our presence within the sector.
You'll collaborate with colleagues across the business to deliver an exceptional client experience while helping shape future commercial strategy and service development.
What You'll Be Doing
- Develop and execute business development strategies that support long-term growth.
- Build relationships with professional introducers including Independent Financial Advisers (IFAs), will writers, solicitors, accountants, banks, building societies and other professional services organisations.
- Identify, secure and nurture new referral partnerships.
- Grow revenue through new business generation and expansion of existing professional relationships.
- Deliver presentations, CPD sessions, workshops and training to professional partners and internal teams.
- Represent the business at industry events, conferences, networking opportunities and professional forums.
- Negotiate commercial arrangements with referral partners while ensuring appropriate governance.
- Act as the principal relationship manager for key institutional clients, ensuring a consistently high standard of service.
- Work closely with operational teams to ensure referrals transition seamlessly into client delivery.
- Provide insight into market trends, competitor activity and emerging opportunities within probate, estate planning and private client services.
- Support the development of new services and innovative approaches to business growth.
- Ensure all activity aligns with regulatory, compliance and risk management requirements.
About You
You'll be a confident relationship builder with a consultative approach and a genuine passion for developing professional partnerships.
You'll have:
- At least 8 years' experience in business development within probate, estate administration, private client, trust, legal or financial services.
- An established network of contacts including IFAs, solicitors, will writers, accountants, banks, building societies and other professional intermediaries.
- A proven track record of generating new business, increasing referral income and achieving commercial targets.
- Strong consultative selling and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience presenting to professional audiences and delivering educational or networking events.
- Excellent negotiation, communication and influencing abilities.
- Outstanding organisational and time management skills.
- A collaborative mindset with the confidence to work autonomously in a remote environment.
- A proactive, commercially driven and entrepreneurial approach.
Knowledge & Qualifications
- GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English.
- Professional qualifications in legal services, financial services or a related discipline are advantageous.
- A sound understanding of FCA regulation, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Consumer Duty, compliance and risk management.
