A rare and senior-level opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Litigation to join a well-established and highly regarded regional law firm based in Oldham. This is a key strategic hire, created following the retirement of the current Head of Department.

This role offers the chance to take full ownership of a thriving litigation department, working within a respected firm known for delivering high-quality legal services to both commercial and private clients across Greater Manchester and beyond.

The Role:
As Head of Litigation, you will lead and develop a mixed caseload of commercial and civil litigation matters, while also overseeing and mentoring junior fee earners. The work is varied, engaging, and often complex, including:
Commercial disputes and contract litigation
Shareholder and company disputes
Civil litigation including boundary disputes
Disputed inheritance matters
You will play a central role in shaping the department’s future, maintaining high standards of client care, and contributing to the firm’s ongoing growth and reputation.

Team & Structure:
You will supervise a capable junior team member currently progressing through the SQE route, providing guidance, technical support, and leadership. The wider firm offers a collaborative and supportive environment with strong internal referral work.

About You:
Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with significant litigation experience
Proven ability to manage a varied caseload of commercial and civil disputes
Previous leadership or supervisory experience (or ready to step up)
Strong commercial awareness and client relationship skills
Ambitious, organised, and confident in leading a department
