Description
Residential Conveyancing Fee Earner
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build their career within a supportive and established legal environment. You’ll need to be approachable, professional, well organised and comfortable managing a varied and often busy workload.
You will ideally already have experience in a fast-paced legal setting, with strong organisational skills and the ability to work well under pressure. Attention to detail is key, alongside excellent written and verbal communication skills. You should be confident working independently as well as collaboratively to meet deadlines.
The Role
You will be responsible for managing your own caseload of residential conveyancing matters from instruction through to post-completion. This will include handling freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity and new build transactions.
Your duties will involve taking clear client instructions, carrying out due diligence and AML checks, and preparing and reviewing key legal documents such as contracts and transfer deeds. You’ll also be responsible for ordering and reviewing searches, investigating title, raising and responding to enquiries, and advising clients on any legal issues affecting their property.
You’ll prepare reports on title and mortgage reports, liaise with lenders in line with the UK Finance Mortgage Lenders’ Handbook, and manage exchanges and completions. Post-completion work will include SDLT submissions and Land Registry applications.
Alongside the legal work, you’ll ensure files are managed accurately and in line with regulatory requirements, keep clients updated throughout the process, and maintain strong financial discipline around billing and matter progression. There will also be an expectation to contribute to business development and support the wider team when needed.
You will have access to secretarial support after a period of learning the systems.
About You
You’ll have solid experience in residential conveyancing and be confident running your own caseload with minimal supervision. Strong technical knowledge, excellent client care skills, and a proactive, commercial approach are essential.
You should be highly organised, detail-focused, and comfortable prioritising your workload in a busy environment. Experience with case management systems is important (LEAP), along with a team-focused attitude and a willingness to "grab the bull by the horns"!
