Description
The Role
A well-established and forward-thinking regional law firm is seeking an experienced Residential Property Legal Adviser to join its growing team based in York. This is a hybrid opportunity reporting directly to the Head of Department and Directors, offering the chance to play a meaningful role in both client delivery and wider strategic growth.
The successful candidate will manage a varied residential property caseload, delivering high-quality legal advice and representation in line with departmental standards and firm-wide objectives. Alongside fee-earning responsibilities, the role involves supporting business development initiatives, contributing to team performance, maintaining regulatory compliance, and ensuring effective use of internal systems and processes. You will be expected to meet billing targets, manage matters efficiently, and uphold the highest professional and ethical standards while actively collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders.
This position offers genuine scope to influence, whether through mentoring colleagues, sharing best practice, engaging with the local community, or supporting continuous improvement across the department.
The Ideal Candidate
The firm is looking to speak with qualified Solicitors, Licensed Conveyancers or Chartered Legal Executives with a minimum of five years’ post-qualification experience in residential property matters. A strong academic background is essential, alongside demonstrable fee-earning experience and sound commercial awareness.
You will be a confident communicator, capable of building lasting relationships with clients and colleagues alike. Strong organisational and financial acumen is important, as is the ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will show initiative, exercise sound judgment, and take ownership of their work while contributing positively to team culture.
An adaptable and collaborative approach is key. You will be comfortable navigating change, engaging in business development activity, and identifying opportunities to enhance profitability and service delivery. Above all, you will lead by example — promoting integrity, inclusivity, and high professional standards throughout your work.
Benefits
This firm offers a competitive salary reflective of experience, alongside a genuinely flexible hybrid working model designed to support work-life balance. Employees benefit from 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, an additional day off for their birthday, and a culture that actively encourages time away from work.
Additional benefits include a death-in-service scheme, a healthcare cash plan, and access to a dedicated wellbeing group to support both mental and physical health. The firm also provides a structured in-house development academy and clear, transparent progression pathways, ensuring long-term career growth is available to all team members.
The culture is inclusive, supportive, and collaborative - combining professional ambition with an environment that values personality, teamwork, and community engagement.
