Clinical Negligence Solicitor – National Firm Locations: Newcastle upon Tyne 
Level: Solicitor

About the Opportunity

I’m working with a leading national law firm that’s currently expanding its Healthcare team and is seeking experienced Clinical Negligence Solicitors.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established and respected healthcare practice that advises on all aspects of healthcare law, including defendant clinical negligence claims and healthcare regulation. The team acts for a wide range of clients such as NHS bodies, medical indemnifiers, private hospitals, clinics, care homes, individual clinicians, and insurers.

You’ll be part of a dynamic, collaborative team working on high-quality, complex cases, with genuine scope for career development and progression. The firm also offers a flexible and supportive working culture.

Key Responsibilities
Depending on your level of experience, responsibilities may include:

  • Managing a varied caseload of pre-litigation and litigated clinical negligence claims
  • Conducting or assisting on complex and high-value matters
  • Drafting pleadings, witness statements, and legal advice
  • Attending hearings and undertaking advocacy where appropriate
  • Ensuring compliance with internal and client SLAs and KPIs
  • Supervising or mentoring junior colleagues
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Supporting business development and contributing to tenders
  • Achieving operational and financial targets

About You
The ideal candidate will be a qualified solicitor with experience in defendant clinical negligence work. You should demonstrate:

  • Strong working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) and claims processes
  • Excellent technical, drafting, and communication skills
  • Analytical, investigative, and problem-solving ability
  • Effective time management and organisation
  • Commercial awareness and client-focused approach
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal and IT skills
