Description

Newly Qualified Solicitor – Commercial (Technology & Digital Focus) Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: Competitive + Excellent Benefits
Hybrid Working | Tier 1-Ranked Team | Clear Career Progression

Are you a newly qualified solicitor ready to take your first step into the world of commercial law?
This is a rare opportunity to join a top-ranked commercial team with an exceptional reputation for its work across technology, digital, and innovation sectors.

You’ll be working alongside experienced specialists who advise some of the most exciting businesses in the UK and beyond — from cutting-edge software developers and AI companies to digital platforms, manufacturers, and media organisations.

The Role This is a fantastic opportunity for an NQ who wants real responsibility from day one. You’ll support and lead on a diverse range of commercial contract matters, including:

  • Technology and digital agreements (IT outsourcing, SaaS, and cloud services)
  • Manufacturing, supply, and logistics contracts
  • Agency, distribution, and franchising arrangements
  • E-commerce, licensing, and data centre agreements

You’ll also have the chance to:

  • Build strong, lasting relationships with clients and internal teams
  • Get involved in business development — writing articles, attending conferences, and supporting client pitches
  • Work closely with partners and senior lawyers recognised as leaders in their field

About You We’re looking for a solicitor who is:

  • Newly qualified or qualifying soon, with some exposure to commercial or technology law during their training contract
  • Commercially minded, adaptable, and eager to learn
  • Confident in communicating with clients and colleagues at all levels
  • Excited by variety — no two days (or contracts) will be the same!
  • Enthusiastic about technology, innovation, and how law supports business growth

Experience in procurement, consumer contracts, or IP would be beneficial, but what matters most is your drive, curiosity, and willingness to develop.

Why This Role Stands Out Opportunities like this for NQs are few and far between. You’ll benefit from:

  • Working in a top-tier commercial team with exposure to high-profile technology clients
  • Early involvement in complex, high-value work with full partner support
  • A collaborative, ambitious culture where your contribution is recognised
  • Hybrid working options and a competitive salary and benefits package
  • Clear progression and ongoing professional development

If you’re looking to kickstart your career in commercial law within an innovative and supportive environment — this is your chance to do something exceptional.
