Description
Senior Associate | Construction | Top 100 Firm with Regional Culture | Hybrid
A highly ranked Legal 100 firm with a strong national profile and a well-established presence in the Southwest is looking for a personable and motivated construction lawyer to join its supportive team in Bristol. This is a standout opportunity to become part of a leading UK law firm, known for its high-quality work and inclusive culture.
With over 500 employees and offices across key UK cities including Bristol and London, the firm combines the resources of a national practice with the atmosphere of a close-knit, friendly workplace. The culture places a strong emphasis on integrity and authenticity, encouraging genuine interactions among colleagues and with clients.
The Bristol-based construction team includes two partners, two senior associates, two solicitors, a trainee, and a paralegal. They are now seeking an experienced construction lawyer with a minimum of 6 years’ PQE to join their busy, collaborative group.
The ideal candidate will have a balanced background in both contentious and non-contentious matters and be keen to work across a broad range of sectors, including waste, infrastructure, higher education, health, and commercial property development. The construction department is known for advising a diverse client base (from developers and funders to contractors and consultants) across both public and private sectors.
Key responsibilities will include drafting, negotiating, and advising on a wide range of standard and bespoke construction contracts, such as JCT, NEC, IChemE, IET, and ACA. The work spans everything from discrete advisory tasks to managing full suites of documents for large-scale developments, offering a varied and intellectually rewarding caseload.
Despite the relatively small size of the team, it consistently delivers high-impact results. The role is naturally collaborative, with close links to the firm’s commercial property and wider project teams. This combines a £42m+ turnover, experienced leadership, a compact specialist team, top industry rankings, and a clientele spanning major corporates like Airbus and Cassidy Group - making it a powerful draw for any senior associate.
Having successfully adapted to remote working, the firm now operates a hybrid model that blends office-based and home working. While experience and enthusiasm are key, regular attendance in the Bristol office is encouraged so new joiners can experience the team’s welcoming atmosphere in person.
The firm is happy to explore specific hybrid working arrangements on a case-by-case basis, with a flexible and open-minded approach.
In addition to a strong package of benefits, the firm is deeply committed to diversity, inclusion, and creating an environment where everyone can thrive. Team members are encouraged to grow in their careers while contributing to a genuinely supportive and enjoyable culture.
