Description

Solicitor – Will Disputes & Contentious Probate (2-4 years PQE)
Location: Reading
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 DOE
My client seeks a solicitor to join their Will Disputes and Contentious Probate team. This role offers the opportunity to handle a broad range of contentious probate matters, working closely with the Wills, Trusts, and Estates team.

This role is unique in that the work is focused entirely on contentious probate litigation. The caseload involves a variety of matters, including Inheritance Act claims for Claimants and Defendants, challenges to the validity of Wills, disputes over executors and administrators (including removal applications), estate administration disputes, Court of Protection matters, and different types of trust disputes. You will manage your own cases and work alongside colleagues on larger matters. You will receive supervision and support from the Head of the team, who is recognised as a leading individual in the field of contentious probate by Legal 500 for the South East. You will also collaborate with colleagues from other departments within the firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage your own caseload of contentious probate matters
  • Handle Inheritance Act claims, Will validity challenges, executor disputes, and other related matters
  • Work with colleagues on larger, more complex cases
  • Liaise with clients, third parties, and courts
  • Assist with business development and client relations
  • Maintain high standards of client care and service
  • Contribute to team discussions and development

About You:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 2 to 4 years of civil litigation experience, including contentious probate matters
  • Experience with contentious probate work and ideally some non-contentious private client experience
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines
  • A willingness to work in a team and share knowledge with colleagues
  • A keen interest in developing expertise in contentious probate

This is an excellent opportunity for a junior solicitor to gain experience in a successful and growing team. You will receive support and development while handling a wide variety of challenging and rewarding cases. If you are looking to advance your career in contentious probate apply today or contact Chris at QED Legal.
