In-House/Private Practice Hybrid Commercial Role
A very highly regarded award-winning full-service national practice is now putting into place the next tranche of its expansion plans and so is keen to make a key, strategic appointment with the hire of an experienced Commercial Solicitor at Senior Associate level to undertake a very different and somewhat unique role at the firms' modern and vibrant office in Birmingham city centre.
This is an outstanding opportunity to join a prestigious firm that is immensely proud of having a transparent and collaborative culture throughout the entire organisation. The firm is very much a meritocracy and does not operate a traditional pyramid structure. Any attitudes of self-importance are most certainly frowned upon which is no doubt why the firm is the recipient of several awards including being ranked as one of the best law firms to work for.
The firm is keen to appoint a Commercial Solicitor Senior Associate who has a minimum of 5 years' PQE and who is keen to become the focal contact point for a large and high calibre existing client base in a non-fee-earning role. This commercial role will comprise managing, negotiating and reviewing the commercial and contractual arrangements already in place and, importantly, embedding you within the clients' operations so that you can advise each business on opportunities which are being overlooked, identify efficiencies that are being missed and monitoring any risks which they may be unaware that they are being exposed to under their current/proposed contract arrangements. In addition, you will assess matters very much from a commercial perspective in order to design and implement new, bespoke products, processes and structures in order to add value to each clients' business.
You will be supported by a team of ten fee earners whom you will be responsible for and who will be able to implement your plans which you will then roll out to each client providing them with on-going, tailored products to help drive forward their offerings and grow their businesses to help clients meet their ever-changing goals.
You will ideally come from either an in-house or private practice background or you will have experience of having been on secondment to clients in the past.
You will have gained experience at leading Legal 500 practices/equivalents and a solid academic background from a recognised university is a must.
The work will be varied, interesting and challenging and the ability to work collaboratively on larger scale projects is essential, as is being enthusiastic about developing existing relationships with clients where you will become the "go to" person for each clients' commercial needs.
Given the abundance of client facing activities you will be involved in, you will absolutely help shape your own team and also the wider Commercial Team going forward so, progression opportunities are abundant. Just because this is a non-fee-earning role, the firm is keen to stress that there is a still a track to Partnership.
This is a rare opportunity for those who are keen to take a step up and away from normal commercial normal fee-earning duties and have the chance to forge a successful long-term career for a major player in the commercial sector whilst working alongside experts within the sector. Where this role is different is you will have access to more than one client which is not something usually available in traditional in-house roles.
A very competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package are on offer which includes 25 days' holiday with the option to purchase more days, private health care, life assurance and an abundance of corporate discounts. The firm is also keen to promote a healthy work/life balance and so will encourage you to take advantage of the agile working scheme that is in operation.
